To Chill or Not to Chill….

I am often amazed at the different temperatures that people prefer to drink their wines. There are certainly many published “recommended” serving temperatures. While no doubt, scientifically the particular varietal will express the fruit and best at a certain temperature, I say drink it the way you like it!  That being said, I cringe when I see someone loading ice into a glass of wine knowing that a winemaker and his team spent alot of time and effort in their craft for it be massively adulterated by ice and the impurities that come with it.  An alternative that I employ for those that like their wine chilled well below typical serving temps is frozen grapes. I have kids and routinely they don’t finish the grapes we get for them. Before they go bad, throw them in the freezer. Then grab 4 or 5 when you want to chill down a wine. No dilution, no bad stuff, just cold grapes chilling your wine. If you like this, please comment with your experience or favorite way to chill your wine!
